Mr. George Waweru a science and agriculture teacher at Makini School is this year winner of Microsoft innovative educator award, at the event’s forum held on Wednesday 24th August 2011 at Makini School.  

His project, Raised Urban Farming, which incorporated students fro 4K and Young Farmers clubs was addressing food security challenge especially in urban area by using vertical space combined with technology to grow food crops. 

The project incorporated ICT solutions especially in research and recording of the process for data sharing purposes.

Mr. Waweru urges other teachers to embrace ICT as a good tool for teaching and evaluation if they are going to be effective and efficient as educators.

He wins a trip to Jordan to represent Kenya in the World Conference of innovative educators.
